Favorite part of the wedding ceremony
Everything about the wedding was special!
Our wedding songs
First dance was "At Last" by Etta James. That's exactly how I felt about my husband.
My dad picked out the first dance for the father/daughter & mother/son dance. It was "The Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra.
Funniest reception moment
It was my mother's birthday the day we were married. Our band at the reception was called Mojeaux and they were excellent! I had the lead singer call my mother on stage and serenade her with "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe" by Barry White. It was hilarious! The singer sounded just like Barry White too! She had no clue what was going to happen. He started singing to her, and she played right along and got up and started dancing.
About the dress
When I think of a Southern Bride, I think of an elegant lace gown. That is exactly what I was looking for. I went to Baton Rouge and Houma with no luck of finding that dress. After work one day, my mother said we should just go check out The Bridal Corner in Thibodaux, and that is where I found my dress! It was absolutely stunning. It was lace from head to toe, it hugged my body to show my curves, and it had a little sash around my waist. I originally wanted a dress that was not strapless and my dress I picked out was strapless. I decided to get a bolero made for the church so that nobody could see my shoulders. I didn't think it was respectful to wear a strapless dress in a Catholic church, so that's why I had a bolero made.
We drove to Gatlinburg, TN. We picked that place because my husband loves the mountains, but I love the beach. For all of our vacations, we had always gone to the beach, so we decided that this time we would go to the mountains so I could experience it. We stayed in a log cabin that overlooked the Smoky Mountains. It was beautiful! We went horseback riding, we rented a Harley and drove through the mountains, and we went zip lining.
Envie's food -you can't beat it! Their food is to die for! Mike Lirette Photography - Mike did a great job on our photos. We were really happy with the way they turned out. He will definitely be the one we call for family portraits in the future. Mojeaux Band - best band ever. They interacted with the crowd, got everyone moving and dancing, and were very funny! Definitely worth the money.
